IV World Water Forum was held in Mexico City on March 16-22, 2006, its core theme was: “Local actions for global calls”. In its work have taken part approximately 20 thousand participants, represented 145 countries of the world. 

At the Forum has been carried out over 200 plenary and thematic sessions which passed within the framework of five basic themes:

1.     Water for growth and developments;

2.      Realization of the Integrated Water Resources Management;

3.      Water supply and sanitary for all;

4.      Water resources management for the foodstuffs and an environment;

5.      Risk management

Commencement ceremony of 4^th World Water Forum has taken place on March, 16, 2006. At this ceremony the President of the Mexico - Visente Fox Kvesada, the President of the World Water Council - Louse Feshon, Prince of Orange William Alexander - the Kingdom of Netherlands, Crown Prince of Japan – Naruhito,  Prime-Minister of the Morocco – Dris Jetou, Chairman of the Advisory Council of the United Nations on Water resources and Sanitaries – Routiro Hashimoto were spoken.

Other important event at the Forum commencement ceremony, was the presentation of the Great World Water Premium King Hasan II which has been given to Janch Klausen - director of the Danish Hydraulic Institute.

Together with other, the Central Asia region’s countries were organized 2 sessions and 1 meeting with donors.

During the Forum there carried out  the International Exhibition where hundreds various organizations have presented their books and recommendations, projects and programs, techniques and equipment, films and other exhibits the devoted to a waters theme.

21^th March, at an exhibition was held Day of the Asia/Pacific region and within it have been presented  electronic and printed materials prepared by Executive Committee of IFAS, the Interstate Commission on Sustainable Development of CA and Interstate Coordination Water-economic Commission of CA. Later, these materials were distributed to the participants of the Forum, with the purpose to inform they about the course of realization of global water initiatives of the Republic of Tajikistan, and attraction of attention of the international community to the solving of problems of Aral Sea Basin and realization of the Millennium Development Goals.

During the Forum with a view of development of mutual relations bilateral and multilateral meetings with representatives of the foreign states and the international organizations have taken place. As well as, at a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mexico and Chairman of the Organizational Committee of the Forum has been achieved the arrangement that during 2 weeks after the Forum, will be submitted the Official recommendation with remarks and offers of EC IFAS which will be taken into account at drawing up of final documents of IV Forum.
