BWO “Syrdarya” is an executive and control body of ICWC. BWO “Syrdarya” implements the supply of established by ICWC water resources limits in the basin of the river Syrdarya with the aim of provision of national economy and state population. It carries out the operation of water intake facilities, hydro units, reservoirs of joint use, canals and other sites which are on the balance of unions under following up of the nature protective requirements and arrangements in the improvement of ecological situation.

Main tasks of BVO “Syrdarya” are the following: 

  • Observance of the guaranteed supply water in proper time to the consumers  in accordance with established by ICWC limits of intakes from interstate resources. The control for the established spill water into the delta of the river Syrdarya and the Aral Sea, operation regimes of reservoirs and cascade, water quality. Provision of the water supply into Chardaryin reservoir in established annual volumes;

  • Development of new water intake with the head intake units,  operation regimes of reservoirs and cascade of reservoirs, the preparation and coordination in ICWC limits of water resources for all consumers of the basin.

  • Setting up the IT system of the water resources management of the Syrdarya river basin, execution of works on the administration of water registration and water measurement on the head intakes, facilitating them with IT equipment and tele-mechanics.

On the instruction of ICWC, BVO “Syrdarya” develops the program of the Research work and PIT on the complex use and water resources protection of the Aral Sea basin.
