On February 11-12, 2008 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan has taken place Session of the Steering Committee of «Swiss Support to the NHMS in the Aral Sea Basin» Project.

At the session have taken part the representatives of NHMS of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, EC IFAS, SDC, and regional users as observers.

In compliance with agenda, the participants have heard and discussed the reports of National Hydrometeorological Services (NHMS) and a consolidated report of Project Support Group (PSG) on realization of the Project in 2007, and also an Action Plan for the Year 2008.

As well as there have been discussed proposals of Uzbekistan on development of RS on creation of a hardware-software package - GE-1 Win and development of the automated system of diffusion and processing of remote sounding data (RSD) for reception of snowiness map, proposal of NHMS of Kyrgyzstan on development of hydrometeorological data gathering system taking into account various communication opportunities, proposal of the Executive Committee of IFAS on participation of representatives of NHMS CA at the International Conference on Water related Disasters Reduction in Dushanbe, June 2008 and other logistical issues.

Following the results of the session are adopted corresponding decisions of the Steering Committee of the Project.
