Development of National Ecological Strategy


 

                                            

 

Within the framework of the European Union project “Development of national ecological strategy (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan)” it was organized mission to the to four pilot zones of the Tajik National Park with the participation of experts from Holland, Germany, USA, Tajikistan and the Executive Committee of the International Fund for saving the Aral Sea. The Tajik National Park is located on a part of Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Oblast (GBAO) and Tavildara, Tajikabad and Jirgital districts and occupies 20% of the territory of Tajikistan.

The main goals of the mission were preparation of the Plan of the Tajik National Park management and also recommendations on harmonization of the vital functions of population living in its territory and bordering territories to reduce negative ecological impacts with the purpose of Park preservation.

During the mission it was organized several meetings in local administrations of Vanj, Rushan, Murgab and Jirgital districts and in GBAO Hukumat, which rendered invaluable support in promotion of the mission tasks. Population of pilot zones namely Poimazor in Vachnj district, Barchadiv in Rushan district, Karakul in Murgab district and Yormazor in Jirgital district have supported the idea of development of Plan of the Tajik National Park management with warm understanding and stated a number of basic reasons about creation of conditions to the population to reduce the impacts on the Park natural resources.

Recommendations on development of hydropower development, the transport communication, drinking water supply, sanitary, resort and sanatorium business on thermal and mineral springs, development of tourism including its ecological versions, beekeeping, the fish industry, the land irrigation, pastures watering, development of coal field, a forestation, best seed-growing, cattle-breeding, improvement of agro-service were the most priority directions of the development in these areas. These will contribute to the improvement of a living standard of local population and preservation of unique natural resources of the Tajik National Park.

The huge facts and materials were collected by the present. They will be used for preparation of Plan of Tajik National Park management to be presented to the Government of Tajikistan.
