On April 16-17, 2007 in Bishkek has taken place the session of the Steering Committee of the Project «Swiss Support to the NHMS in the Aral Sea Basin (final phase)».

At the meeting the report for intermediate period from August till December 2006 was considered and approved. The Action Plan for the Year (APY) and budget for 2007 are confirmed in view of the changes and additions, which were offered during discussion. At the meeting has been also discussed the system of coordination and division of the responsibility between NHMS of CA and CAREWIB project. The participants of the session have stressed, that at present time the cooperation of the NHMS and «Central Asian Regional Water Sector Information Base (CAREWIB)» project is unsuitable.

Within the framework of the meeting were discussed and submitted the lists of the meteorological stations and hydrological posts for reconstruction, as well as the stations and snow-measuring routes of the first priority for 2007 in territory of the Kirghiz Republic and Tajikistan.

The participants of the meeting have also discussed some organizational and technical issues on licensing and technical support of HydroPro and SRM, the proposals on perfection of information transfer, and in particular the satellite image on SRM, the offers of the Turkmen hydrometeorology on modernization of the hydrological posts and meteorological stations in Turkmenistan and basic requirements for tender documents.
