Project Aral- HYCOS is a part of WHYCOS programme. The basic idea
of the project is development of real time data transmission system, and, thus, creation of missing
interrelation between corresponding previous, current and
planned activities. Importance of realization of this project is
reflected in the Program of concrete actions on improvement of ecological and social and economic situations in
the Aral
Sea Basin for the period of 2003-2010 (ASBP-2).
Overall aims of the project are development/improvement of
national and regional capacity of the
Aral Sea Basin states in the field of water resources assessment and global hydrological cycle
researches, and strengthening of
regional cooperation.
The expected major outcomes of the Aral- HYCOS project would be
to provide added value to all of the regional and national
initiatives in hydrometeorology in particular and in water sector as
a whole.
