
In the EC IFAS office a Preparatory conference was held, which is related to the procurement of consultancy services – the System Integrator for the Project on modernization of hydrometeorological services in Central Asia.

May 26, 2011 the Board of Executive Directors of the International Development Association approved a grant (IDA H677-7C) in the amount of five million six hundred thousand Special Drawing Rights (SDR 5,600,000) granted to the Executive Committee of IFAS (EC IFAS) for the Project to modernize the Hydrometeorological Service in Central Asia.

The workshop on carrying out the analysis of the existing situation in Kazakhstan was held as part of the project “Capacity building in data administration for assessing transboundary water resources in the countries EECCA”.

Regional Centre of Hydrology (RCH) of the Executive Committee of IFAS was founded in 2002 by the decision of the Board of the International Fund for saving the Aral Sea.
The main purpose of RCH is to improve the system of hydro-meteorological forecasting, environmental monitoring and data exchange between the National Hydromets in the region.
RCH operates in close collaboration with the World Meteorological Organization, the Interstate Council for Hydrometeorology of the CIS and other international organizations.
RCH is currently located in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
The main tasks of RCH:
The center includes the Board of Trustees, consisting of the Heads of NHMSs, Executive Director, RCH branches in the NHMS countries, the working groups on the project directions.

The Workshop on Transboundary Water Resources Management in Central Asia was held in Almaty from 13 to 15 October.
