The EC IFAS chairman Saghit Ibatullin made presentation of the Aral problems as a topic for the Seventh Ministerial Conference “Environment for Europe”. The presentation included information on the preparation process of the Action Program in the Aral Sea basin for the period 2011-2015 (ASBP-3).

The working meeting of the EC IFAS member-States representatives and experts from the European Commission project took place in the office of the EC IFAS. The meeting participants have got an opportunity to introduce the new EC IFAS staff member – technical director Alfred Diebold, and the international expert from European Commission Anatoliy Krutov.

On the 3^rd March in the office of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy in Central Asia in Ashgabat the Memorandum of understanding between the United Nations and the Executive Committee of the International Fund for saving the Aral Sea (EC IFAS) has been signed.

The national consultations within the framework of the Aral Sea Basin programme elaboration (ASBP-3 for the period of 2011-2015) took place on the 2^nd of March in the Republic of Uzbekistan. The meeting was held in the Ministry of agriculture and water resources.

In the period 22-24^th February the national consultations with the ministries and offices of the Republic of Tajikistan took place in Dushanbe.

In the period of mid-February – beginning of March 2010 the national consultations within the framework of the Third Aral Sea Basin Programme (ASBP-3) development are planned to take place in each of five countries.

The consultative meeting in Kazakhstan took place in the Executive Committee IFAS on the 18^th of February.

During the consultative donor meeting held on the 3^rd of February, the Executive Committee of IFAS presented intermediate results on activities carried out in cooperation with donor and international organizations, which participated in this meeting. The activities discussed are related to organization of international experts’ assistance in the elaboration of the Third Aral Sea Basin Programme for the period of 2011-2015.

On the 2^nd of February the meeting with the UN ECE representatives Bo Libert and Gulnara Roll took place in the office of the Executive Committee IFAS. The meeting was organized to discuss possibilities for implementation of the National Policy Dialogues on Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia (EECCA). The idea of the programme is to establish national coordination groups involving interested parties, including ministries. Coordination groups will be designed to organize workshops aiming to discuss national priorities within the possible projects and programmes on IWRM.
