On July 20 in Ashgabat under the auspices of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) the high-level meeting “Dialogue on Water Resources issues: Implementing decisions of the Summit of IFAS and the outcome of the visit of UN Secretary General to the countries of Central Asia" was conducted.

On the 16th July 2010 in Almaty, Deputy UN Secretary General, Executive Secretary of UN European Economic Commission, Jan Kubis and the UNECE Regional Adviser on Environment, Bo Libert, met with representatives of Executive Committee on the development of relations between IFAS with UN agencies and implementing joint projects with UNECE.

As part of the Executive Committee IFAS activities the work on informing the international and donor organizations on the aims and objectives of the Third Aral Sea Basin Programme is implemented for the purpose of their involvement in this process. In the study meeting held in Executive Committee on the 30 June, representatives of the European Commission, including the staff of the EC Cooperation with Central Asia unit.

Currently the preparatory work for the second phase of the Northern Aral Sea and Syrdarya Control project supported by the Government of Kazakhstan and the World Bank is underway. On the 16th of June 2010 the working panel of experts in the field of hydro unit construction, representatives of the oblast (country regional) administrative bodies and IFAS specialists took place in Kyzylorda.

The Summit Meeting of the Presidents of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan took place on 28 April 2009 in Almaty. The Parties adopted the Joint Statement in which Heads of the States-founders IFAS mandated Executive Committee of IFAS, in close cooperation with Interstate Commission for Water Coordination (ICWC) and Interstate Commission for Sustainable Development (ICSD), involving national experts and donors to elaborate the Program of actions on providing assistance to the countries of the Aral Sea Basin for the period of 2011-2015 (ASBP-3) for further consideration and approval by the States-founders IFAS.

In Tajikistan, the high-level international conference on the midterm review of the implementation of the International Decade for Action "Water for Life”, 2005-2015, adopted as a water resolution by the UN General Assembly. The conference included analysis of progress made in the framework of internationally agreed objectives related to water issues, as well as the prognosis on perspectives of implementation of the international commitments related to water and water issues by 2015.

On May 26 Berlin hosted an international forum "The Aral Sea: from the lake to the desert - the life with an environmental catastrophe", organized by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in cooperation with German Union for Environmental Protection (NABU).

The Donor Coordination meeting intended to identify opportunities for international support for future activities, on providing assistance to the Aral Sea basin states and promoting sustainable development under the Aral Sea Basin Programme-3, was held on May 21, 2010 in Almaty. Governmental organisations from 25 countries reported to participate, international financial institutions, embassies, international organizations, including UN agencies and research institutes attended the meeting.

In Kazakhstan, Kyzylorda, on the 17-18th of May the Roundtable "Contemporary Problems and Potential Solutions for Water and Environmental Security in the Kazakhstan Portion of the Aral Sea Basin” was conducted. This international conference was convened by the Executive Directorate EC IFAS and OSCE centre in Kazakhstan.
